Scott Roberts, owner and pitmaster of Salt Lick Bar-B-Que, has been immersed in the Texas barbecue culture from his youth. In 1967, he helped his father Thurman build the original family barbecue pit marking the official opening of the business—originally a small barbecue stand. Today, the restaurant remains steeped in family tradition, serving widely renowned recipes that have topped many “best” lists and have been featured by The Today Show, Forbes, WSJ, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, Everyday With Rachael Ray, and USA Today, to name a few. Under Roberts’ ownership, Salt Lick has become a multi-faceted brand - the restaurant now includes three Texas locations and hosts full service private events while providing made-to-order food shipments nationwide. In 2009, Roberts also established Salt Lick Cellars, a wine tasting room offering a variety of fine wines derived of grapes grown on the property.
